Auto DM isn't sending

Why someone commented a trigger word and got no DM, and how to fix each cause, starting with a Facebook connection that can't see comments.

Auto DM only answers a comment when every check below passes. If one fails, nobody gets a DM for that comment, and nothing is sent twice when you fix it.

Check these in order

  1. Can Auto DM see your comments? If the Auto DM block (or the notifications bell) says Auto DM can't see your Facebook comments yet, Facebook isn't sending your Page's comments to EverySqueeze. This happens to Facebook connections made before EverySqueeze could ask for that access. Press "Reconnect Facebook" in the Auto DM block. In Facebook's window choose Edit settings, then Opt in to current Pages only, select your Page, and keep every permission switched on. See Connect Facebook and Instagram.
  2. Is Auto DM switched on? It starts off. Open Auto DM settings, flip the switch on and press "Save Auto DM".
  3. Did the comment match a trigger word? The whole word has to be there (a plural with an s counts; upper or lower case doesn't matter). With "Only short comments (10 words or fewer)" checked, longer comments are skipped. Comments that say no link or don't need never count, and your own Page's comments are ignored.
  4. Is the post linked to one of your TikTok videos? Auto DM sends the product from the TikTok video behind the post. A post that wasn't published through EverySqueeze and that Coverage hasn't matched has no product to send.
  5. Does that video have a product we can link? The video needs an Amazon product you chose or that EverySqueeze is sure of (see Confirm a product), it can't be marked as not on Amazon, and you need an Amazon tracking ID (see Amazon tracking ID). We never send an untagged link. If you set your own link for the video (see Use your own link), that link is sent instead and no product is needed. A video can also have extra trigger words: they answer on that post alongside your usual words.
  6. Is the comment newer than 7 days? Meta only allows a private reply within 7 days of the comment.
  7. Is today's limit used up? Auto DM sends at most 100 DMs in any 24 hours. It starts again on its own.
  8. Can your connection send messages? If the Facebook DM status in the Auto DM block asks you to reconnect, reconnect Facebook and allow messaging.
  9. Was the comment on Instagram? Auto DM on Instagram has its own switch in Settings → Accounts & platforms → Instagram. While its status says Waiting on Instagram approval — we'll turn this on automatically, Instagram comments get no DM yet. If it asks you to reconnect Instagram or Facebook, reconnect that account so its comments reach EverySqueeze.

Each comment gets at most one DM, so a comment that was already answered is skipped.
