Moving from Scaled Creator or ManyChat
Old posts that ask people to comment their own word (Comment PATCH) keep getting DMs from Auto DM, on Facebook and Instagram.
Tools like Scaled Creator and ManyChat often give every video its own comment word in the caption, for example Comment PATCH and I'll send you the link. Those posts stay up and people keep commenting PATCH, which isn't one of your Auto DM trigger words.
Old posts keep working
Settings → Auto DM has Also answer the word each post asks for, under Trigger words, and it's on by default. The Facebook card and the Instagram card both show it; it's one switch for both. With it on, EverySqueeze reads the caption of the post that was commented on, finds the word it asks for and answers it like one of your trigger words: the same DM, the same product link and the same disclosure. It covers Facebook and Instagram. Your own trigger words keep working everywhere.
It understands captions like Comment PATCH, Comment PATCH for the product link!, comment (patch), Comment “PATCH” below, Comment the word PATCH, Type PATCH below and Comenta PARCHE. A singular or plural comment counts too: crayon answers Comment CRAYONS, and Art desk answers Comment ARTDESK.
It also understands asks of two or three words written in upper case or in quotes, like Comment TRUCK TILES and I'll send you the link or Comment “busy book” for the link. Then the comment must contain the whole phrase: truck tiles please gets the DM, truck alone doesn't. Captions that don't ask for a word, like Comment below what you think, are ignored.
Old posts we haven't matched yet
Coverage takes a while to match thousands of old posts to your TikTok videos. A comment asking for the link (the post's own word or one of your trigger words) on a post that isn't matched yet waits instead of being skipped:
- That post jumps the queue: Coverage matches it next, before the rest of your old posts. Posts people commented on in the last 30 days come next.
- Once the post is matched, the DM goes out by itself. It works on Facebook and Instagram.
- Meta allows a DM only within 7 days of the comment. A comment still waiting after that is not sent.
- What counts as matched follows your choice under When we’re not sure of the product (Settings → Posting schedule): with Always link, a likely match is enough; with Give me time to check or Careful, the match must be confirmed, and the bell tells you when DMs are waiting for you to confirm a match in Coverage (see Confirm or reject a match).
- A post you marked as not a TikTok repost doesn't wait.
When a comment is not answered
- The same rules as your trigger words apply: a whole word (or the whole phrase), only short comments if you chose that, never a comment saying no links, one DM per comment.
- Meta allows only one DM per comment. If the other tool is still answering comments, turn its comment automation off, or it may answer first.
Turn it off
In Settings → Auto DM, switch Also answer the word each post asks for off. It saves by itself. In the phone app it's in the Auto DM settings of Settings' Facebook section: switch it off, then press Save Auto DM. Then only your trigger words, and any words you set for one video, get a DM.
