Amazon link in the first comment on Facebook: how to set it up
How to post your Amazon affiliate link as the first comment on every Facebook Reel automatically, change the line before it, and pick the link style.

To put your Amazon link in the first comment on Facebook automatically, turn on Amazon link in the first comment in EverySqueeze, under Settings, Accounts & platforms, Facebook, in the Links & disclosure group. From then on, we comment your tagged link right after each Facebook post goes live. It's already on for most people: we switched it on for every account on October 8, 2026, the day Meta approved it, and new accounts start with it on.
The rest of this post is how to check it's working, how to change what the comment says, and the one reconnect some older accounts need.
Why bother with a first-comment link
Two reasons we hear most. Some creators want the caption to read like a caption, with the link out of the way. And a lot of viewers scroll the comments before they buy, so a link sitting at the top of them gets seen by people who skipped the caption.
It works fine alongside the other two places a link can go on Facebook: the caption itself and a DM to people who comment. You don't have to choose. If you want the comparison, see How to put an Amazon affiliate link on a Facebook Reel.
This is a Facebook thing only. Instagram doesn't make links in comments tappable, so we never comment your link on Instagram posts. There, Auto DM does the job (see Can you put an Amazon link on an Instagram Reel?).
Set it up
- Open Settings, then Accounts & platforms, then press Settings on the Facebook card.
- Find the Links & disclosure group.
- Turn on Amazon link in the first comment. If you see Reconnect Facebook to turn this on instead of a switch, jump to the reconnect section below first.
- Optional: write your own line under Text before the link, and press Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the page.
- Optional: pick a Comment link style.
That's all. The setting is saved to your account, so it applies to automatic posts, scheduled posts and Post now, from the computer or the phone app.
What the comment says
The comment is two lines: a short line, then your link on its own line. Left alone, the line is a ready-made one that names the product, using a short version of its Amazon name, along the lines of "Shop the (product name) on Amazon #ad". If we don't have the product's name yet, it says "Shop it on Amazon" instead.
Under the comment, Facebook shows a preview card with the product's name and photo.
Write your own line
Text before the link takes one line, up to 120 characters, with no links in it. Put {product} where you want the product name to go, or leave it out and write something that fits every video ("The one from the video is here").
Every line ends with #ad. If yours doesn't already say #ad, #anuncio, #publicidad or #sponsored, we add #ad to the end, and those four characters count toward the 120. That way the comment discloses the affiliate link on its own, even on a post whose caption has no link. More on disclosures in Where the Amazon disclosure appears.
Pick the link style
Comment link style has two choices.
App link (opens the Amazon app) is the default. It's a short everysqueeze.com link. On a phone it opens the Amazon app, where people are usually already signed in; inside the Facebook app it takes one tap on an Open in Amazon app button, because Facebook only lets a tap open another app. We count its clicks.
Plain Amazon link (clicks not counted) is amazon.com with your tracking ID on it. It opens Amazon in Facebook's own browser, and we can't count its clicks. Without a tracking ID, no comment is posted in this style.
We'd leave it on the app link unless you have a reason not to. If you do pick the app link, add everysqueeze.com to the Websites and Mobile Apps list in your Amazon Associates account, next to your Facebook Page, since your links pass through it. See Associates and your websites.
If you set your own link for a video (a brand's site, say), that link is posted as it is, whichever style you picked.
Which posts get a comment
A post gets the comment when it has a link to share: an Amazon product you picked or confirmed, or one we're sure of, plus your tracking ID, or a link of your own for that video. A video you marked as not on Amazon, with no link of your own, posts without one. We don't comment an untagged Amazon link.
Reconnect Facebook to turn this on
If you connected Facebook before October 8, 2026, your connection doesn't carry the comment permission Meta approved that day. Settings shows Reconnect Facebook to turn this on in place of the switch, and the bell says Reconnect Facebook to turn on comment replies.
- Press Reconnect Facebook.
- In Facebook's window, choose Edit settings (not Continue).
- Choose Opt in to current Pages only.
- Select your Page and your Instagram, and keep every permission on.
The switch appears after that. Your posts keep going out while you wait, just without the comment. If you run more than one EverySqueeze account on the same Facebook login, select every Page you post to, not just this one. Connect Facebook and Instagram explains why.
Turning it off
Same switch. Auto DM keeps working with the first comment off, and so does the caption link if you use it. Nothing about the post itself changes; it just goes out without the comment.
The full reference, with every label, is in Amazon link in the first comment.
