TikTok sent you back to a different browser

Connecting TikTok must finish in the browser where it started. On iPhone, TikTok returns to Safari, so start in Safari.

TikTok sent you back to a different browser (or Security check failed) shows after you approve the connection on TikTok, when TikTok brings you back to a different browser from the one you started in.

Why it happens

When you tap Connect TikTok, EverySqueeze marks that browser so that only you can finish the connection. Each browser keeps its own marks. Your phone's other browsers and the browsers built into apps can't see them.

On iPhone, the TikTok app usually sends you back to Safari. If you started in Chrome, Firefox, or the browser built into Gmail, Instagram, Facebook or the Google app, Safari doesn't have the mark, so the connection stops. Nothing was connected or changed. Trying again in the same browser fails the same way.

What to do

  1. Start in Safari (on Android, in Chrome). On the setup screen, "Copy link" copies the page link. Open Safari, paste it, sign in if asked, and tap Connect TikTok again.
  2. Or use the button on the error page. It opens in the browser TikTok sent you to. If you're signed in there, it starts the connection again right there. If not, it signs you in first. We can email you a sign-in code to type in.
  3. Opened from an email? Links in the Gmail app often open in Gmail's own browser. Use Gmail's menu to open the page in Safari, or copy the link into Safari.
  4. Or finish on your computer. On a phone, the Connect TikTok step has "Email me a link to finish on my computer". It emails a one-time sign-in link to your account's own email; open it on your computer (or in Safari) and you are back on the same setup step, signed in. You can ask for 3 links a day.

In the EverySqueeze iPhone app

An ordinary TikTok sign-in can't come back to the app: TikTok returns to Safari. So the app does one of two things:

You don't need a new invitation. Your account is already set up; only the TikTok step needs to run in one browser.

If it still fails in Safari, use Report a problem in Pip's menu and say which browser you used.

Open it in EverySqueeze

Signed in, this article opens in the app’s Help center, with a button straight to TikTok sources.
