Low video quality on a cross-posted video

TikTok videos and MP4 uploads are stored as-is; other upload formats are converted to MP4 — here's what actually decides the quality you see.

EverySqueeze does not re-encode your TikTok videos or MP4 files you upload: the file it stores and cross-posts is the source file itself, so quality issues almost always trace back to that source. A video you upload in another format (MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV or AVI) is converted to MP4 before it can be posted, and that conversion is the one place EverySqueeze makes a new file.

Check these in order

1. Check the original on TikTok. If the video looks soft or compressed there too, the issue is with the source, not with EverySqueeze — it adds no compression of its own to a TikTok video.
2. A brand-new post can be grabbed before TikTok's own higher-quality version is ready. TikTok finishes its higher-resolution processing minutes to hours after a video first goes up. A video captured within seconds of posting can be stored at a lower resolution than the one TikTok later makes available. EverySqueeze rechecks recently-stored videos over their first day and automatically swaps in a higher-quality source if one becomes available, measuring both files before replacing anything — this happens on its own and needs no action from you, but it can take time to catch up on a video posted very recently.
3. A swap only happens when it's a genuine improvement. A candidate is only used if it matches the original's length, aspect ratio and frame rate and is clearly higher-resolution or a larger, matching-format file — a smaller, different, or ambiguous file is never substituted.
4. If it's still not right after that window, the safest fix is to post the video yourself from the original file: upload the original file by hand in the Composer (an MP4 if you have one, so it is posted as-is), rather than relying on the automatic cross-post to catch up.

Nothing about this affects which posts have already gone out — a later quality upgrade only changes what a future cross-post pulls from storage, it does not repost anything automatically. If a video still looks wrong well after it was posted, use Report a problem (in Pip's menu or the Help button).
